At Notepadly, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our free online notepad service, including the main notepad, sharing features, cloud sync, export tools, and our standalone text utilities.
Data We Collect
Local Storage (Default)
By default, Notepadly stores all your notes locally in your browser using IndexedDB and localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to any server.
Local storage includes your note content, titles, creation/modification dates, pin/star status, and editor preferences.
Cloud Sync (Optional)
If you choose to sign in with Google, we store:
- Your Google email address and display name
- Your notes content, titles, and metadata
- Your editor preferences and settings
- Shared note links and their settings
Google Sign-In Details
We receive: email address, display name, and profile picture URL. We do not access your contacts, calendar, files, or any other Google services.
Feature-Specific Data Handling
Note Sharing
When you share a note, the content, share settings, link expiry, and view count are stored on our servers. Shared links use unique, unguessable identifiers. You can revoke access at any time.
Export Features
All export operations (TXT, PDF, Word, Excel, CSV, HTML, Markdown) are processed entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. Your content is never sent to our servers during export.
Text Transformations & Tools
All text transformations (case conversion, sorting, encoding/decoding, JSON formatting) operate locally in your browser. None of this data is transmitted to our servers.
Standalone Tools
Word Counter, Character Counter, Text Case Converter, Text Compare, and file converters all operate locally in your browser. No content is saved unless you explicitly use the notepad to store it.
Find & Replace, Statistics
Find and replace (including regex), word/character counting, readability analysis, and all editor features operate entirely within your browser.
